One of the nice things about building a simple
frame loom is that it doesn't take too many
tools. You can usually find all the parts and
pieces that you need at the hardware store.

Although the following site doesn't give you
plans for a loom, there's a pretty good description.
There might be enough information for
you to figure out how to make one.

An excellent book on all aspects of Navajo
weaving, that you can find either at the
library, a book store, or online is:

Navajo Weaving Way, The Path from Fleece to Rug
Noel Bennett and Tiana Bighorse,
published by Interweave Press.

This book covers everything from building
the loom to weaving in the Navajo tradition.

If you go the library, you may be able to find an
older book by the same authors (out of print)
called:

Working With the Wool, How to Weave a Navajo Rug
Noel Bennett and Tiana Bighorse,
published by Northland Publishing

It contains the same information on looms as
the newer book.

Maureen and I have been weaving on frame looms
using the Navajo method for several years now and
find it very rewarding.

I hope you find enough information to get started.

Mike
