Make your tension adjusting rod as tight as you can to begin with, and as the weaving progresses you will have to loosen it as the weaving pulls in tighter.
Tie your heddle strings over the heddle holding bar and over the upper tension bar. Make a circle and tie with a square knot very tight. Make as many as you need, all with the same tension. Use a tightly twisted waxed linen thread for them. I use artificial sinew for mine.
Then pull them all off and as you warp put one end over the tension peg, put your yarn through the double foldover, and put the other loop on the tension bar. Warp the next thread without using the string heddle, and missing the upper tension. String every other warp thread. I use a continuous thread, if I need only one color tape and just keep going.
Only half of the warp threads (yarn) actually move on an inkle loom. So it is really not a true loom in some people's eyes.
Hope this helps.
