Judy is right about the weight. I picked up a nonfolding 40" 10-shaft Macomber a few weeks ago in a rented Dodge Dakota, and it just fit, but that was the 40" model. The one on eBay (listed as "Mcomber") has a 54" weaving width, and is built bigger and heavier all around, so it's a behemoth. One caution about assuming you can take it apart: There are no Macomber kit looms. Macombers are shipped completely assembled, and can't be broken down much. I've been told by other owners that the wood members were generally glued, somtimes pegged, AND screwed together, so screws don't necessarily indicate that parts will come apart easily, or should come apart at all. I got the loom I bought broken down into eastle, treadle and lamm assembly with sectional beam attached, breast and cloth beam with verticals, and beater assembly with verticals. I'd think it best to have a vehicle that could accommodate the 54" Macomber pretty much as it stands, to be on the safe side.
