I puchased a small beading loom at the big box store (I'm not going to advertise), in the craft department. It's plastic, and I think you can still find metal and wood ones, and these are nice for bead weaving.
Otherwise, you can make a bead loom with three pieces of wood and nails. I made one in a high school art class out of two by fours (lots of sanding was necessary so I wouldn't splinters!). It was shaped must like the letter "I." It was a fixed width loom (whereas the the commercial bead loom had rollers so the warp was not limited in length).
