Congrats on getting weaving! The number of heddles per shaft depends on the design of the piece. Some shafts might have just a few threads, and others, many. Assuming you have a four-shaft loom and the design calls for an equal number of threads per shaft, 420/4=105 per shaft, or 52 or 53 on each side of the midpoint, for balance. I've been okay having about 125 heddles per shaft on my 22" wide four-shaft loom, but then I haven't woven super-fine cloth on it. If it's hard to add heddles, it's smarter to go with a few extra and avoid a hassle near the end of the warping process. YMMV, of course.
