Actually, as a teacher who works with youngsters, might I suggest you get your child an "Easy Weaver" from Harrisville? (If you check ebay regularly, you can pick them up for far less than the retail price, although at the moment you'll be bidding against me! I am trying to get a bunch more for my kids. (-;
In any case, I tried out a Brio recently to see if it would be good for my childrens' classes and was very disappointed. "My" kids love the EW's and they are MUCH easier to re-warp. You can even get the pre=threaded warps from Harrisville. The other suggestion is that, if you can find a teacher, it would be nice to enroll your child and/or yourself in a class. If your child really enjoys weaving, he will enjoy even more having the control over his experience that learning to dress the loom and do the other procedures for himself would give him. I just set one of my summer kids who really "took" to it up with an EW and he and his mom will to be back to learn how to set it up when the current warp runs out. (he's nine, so Mom needs to be able to help out if he runs into trouble. I try to "be there" for the kids as well.)
Anyway, just a suggestion.
