Leila, I do not know how you stored your loom, but it sounds like a rust problem to me. Put something under the loom to protect the floor or carpet, then put ONE drop of 3 in 1 oil (sewing machine oil) on every metal location that looks like it moves including the place were the petals attach to the back of the loom . Wait 30 mins then with your hands work the metal pieces to see if they work free. The petals should work very easy and smooth. This is one thing the Macomber is known for, a smooth effortless action. If this does not help email me and I will tell you what screws you may have to lossen.
