Michele,
The Nilus is a sturdier loom since only the back beam folds in and the breast beam is stationary. on the artistat both the front and the back fold up to make the loom more portable and have a smaller footprint when stored. The are very good dependable first looms. I had a Nilus for my first 3 looms and still have 3 in my studio. Also the company is still in business and gives good support. They have technical information at leclerclooms.com. Good luck and enjoy.
