Anna, you asked why to weight the floating selvedge thread separately rather than beam it on with the rest. The reason in action that I can see for doing this is that you will sometimes hit the floating selvedge with your boat shuttle, being weighted over the beam means it can flex more rather than break. Plus as you weave with a FS you're lifting it or going over it so it needs a bit more "give". Personally I like to skip a dent and then run the FS. HTH, Liese
