If your wheel is an antique, it probably is a double drive, which means the flyer will have one whorl and the bobbin will have another. Look for a book on spinning that tells you about double drive wheels. The drive band is doubled over on itself... one loop goes over the flyer whorl and one goes over the bobbin whorl. Often "antique" wheels have bogus flyers made by people who don't spin and the two whorls are the same size... the flyer whorl needs to be larger than the bobbin whorl for the yarn to draw in.
Technically, castle style wheels have the drive wheel above the flyer. Upright wheels have the drive wheel below the flyer... just so's you'd know.
