When weaving with linens you can go quite fine without difficulty. Just use say a 40/2 in the warp (for added strenght) and use a 20 single in the weft. Or 20/2 in warp and 10 single in the weft. The single weft adds drape to the finished product and the weft doesn't need to be strong. I also always thread an extra thread every 2-3" across the warp for a replacement if a thread would break.
