If your draw-in is the result of inadequate weft length, probably from not laying in the weft at an angle to the weaving. Any good weaving book will explain this. Overshot is no different from any other structure in this regard.
If you are using a weak yarn, it will fray and break more quickly than a sturdy one.
Are you advancing the warp every inch or so? The longer a warp stays in the same spot, the more that particular part of the yarn is abraded by the heddles and reed. Advance your warp frequently!
