Why not take a class somewhere so you can decide what you want to do? A table loom with four shafts opens up a myriad of pattern possibilites, whereas a rigid heddle loom is kind of limited. You will just have more fun with a multi-shaft table loom.
I do want to reiterate that taking a class before you buy would be a wise move. Check with local or nearby guilds for advise, also. SOme of the larger guilds have equipment to rent.
