Hello,
I just finished a cotton (Ikat) shawl and wet finished it yesterday. While I was ironing it I noticed several diagonal "folds" had developen on the piece. I was able to mostly get rid of them by ironing them out, but I'm wondering what they are from. Funny thing, is that I read something about this just a few days ago, but can't remember where I read it or what it said they were from.

Warp and weft are both cotton. I didn't have great tension on the warp while weaving because I was worried that the threads were a little weak, so I just used as much tension as was necessary to make a shed, but no more.

So, does anyone know what these diagonal folds are from?

Thanks,
Sally
