Renee,

It is not really a matter of liking or disliking for me. I always thread a floating selvedge when I weave twill and overshot. This is because the weft thread doesn't catch all the time at the very edge thread when you repeat the same shot over and over to make a square in overshot and because of the way the twill is treadled. Often times you can just change the direction that you start the twill sequence and catch the edge thread, but not always so it is just better to warp two extra threads. Also you don't always go over entering the shed and under coming out. You look to see if the weft is going over or under the first thread and do the opposite. Right now I am weaving towels in overshot and I go under both from the right and over both floaters from the left. When I weave with very fine threads that don't require a floater often I put a floater of fishing line in to cut back on wear and tear of my selvedge threads then I pull it out before washing when my towel is done. Hope this helps, good luck in your weaving endeavors.
Sharon
