does anyone out there have a good formula for take-up and shrinkage on rag rugs? I recently attempted to weave an 8 foot runner. I actually wove 108" of polyester rag strips to allow for some take-up and shrinkage. My warp was cotton/poly from leesburg looms. When I got it off the loom, it was 96" and after washing and drying it was only 86". I was dumbfounded at how much length I lost in the process. Is this normal when weaving with rag strips?
