Congratulations! I remember how exciting that was with my first loom.
Two suggestions - make your first warp much smaller, say 2 - 4 yards. One of the things you need to learn is how to warp the loom, and using a short warp means that you will be doing it again soon, before you have a chance to forget how to do it. You can also try different methods this way. A 14 yard warp will mean a long time between warping sessions and you will forget since you've only done it once.
Second, get some cheep weaving yarn. Ebay is a good source, or look at the mill end sales at places like Webs. (yarn.com) You can get a cone there for $5 or even less sometimes.
Have fun!
