Hi, I attended CCAC when it was called CCAC. I had a Jim Ahrens loom for a no of years. It was given to me and I had to update quite a bit. I talk to Mr. Ahrens at time I got the loom to find out more about it. He made looms at the very beginning for his wife who was looming. He just got the hang of it and kept making looms to make improvments. Mine was at his weaving school near CCAC's first campus. It might have been on campus. Anyway as he was in the loom bus, he started a retail bus with another individual making and selling looms which eventually became AVL in Chico Ca. When I was ready to sell my loom, I called AVL who informed me that they could not afford the loom as it should be in a museum. So I gave the loom away as my legs did not work as well anymore. I find out that the person I gave it to is trying to sell it for well over $1,000. I feel cheated but I shouldn't as I gave it away.
Not sure I helped, Nita
