Thanks for the feedback. Believe it or not, I'd forgotten all about the shafts! What I thought made sense was to cut a loom down to the size of a smaller model of the same design made by the same manufacturer, and replace such things as the reed--and shafts, of course--outright. The treadle assemblies that I've examined seem to be consistent in design within brands or models(except for back-hinged models), leading me to think that lopping off enough width from the treadle mounting beam would work. None of this makes sense unless the cost of the larger loom, plus replacement parts, is significantly lower than the cost of a smaller loom in the first place. Anyway, thanks for the response!
