Seems pretty high to me. I don't think the leather straps have been put on this loom for a while. The good news is that the older ones seem to be a little more sturdy. In this economy, looms are being sold a lot, I think you could probably get more loom (a more solid loom) at at even lower price. I saw a 36" mighty wolf recently (8 SHafts) for 1500.00. Also, I have heard complaints from Harrisville owners that they do not get good support from Harrisville if they have loom problems. (I don't have a harrisville currently in my loom collection-but have helped students deal with theirs.) I think the best thing to do is go to a dealer (you don't say where you live) that carries several different looms and try them out...then go searching for one that is exactly what you want or discuss with the members of a local weaving guild.
