I think the cloth beam is usually mounted above the side support and not below. The 'metal circular hole/bracket above and to the left of the cloth beam' may have been added to place the cloth beam further away from the weaver's knees. The bracket you are using may be the original?, but should be above and not below the side beam for the same reason: a weaver does not want to press the knees into the finished cloth as it messes with warp tension. The position of the pawl would have to be adjusted if you change the position of the cloth beam. Hope this is workable and helpful.-GS
